We’re delighted to announce that Insight Recruitment is an official signatory of the Tech Talent Charter! As a specialist recruitment agency, Insight is aware that equality is important in terms of creating a positive culture of innovation and continuous improvement.

We want to use our voice and reach to make the industries we work within better.

Being at the forefront of our client’s hiring plans, we are committed to using our unique position to help businesses within the Technology and Engineering spaces develop effective D&I strategies.

Community is a core focus at Insight and giving back to forms the key reason as to why we have signed up to the Tech Talent Charter.

According to the TTC:

  • Currently, just 16% of UK IT professionals are female and only one in ten females are currently taking A-Level computer studies.*
  • 14% of the UK working population is from a Black, Asian or Minority Ethnic (BAME) background yet only 8.5% of senior leaders in the tech sector are BAME.**
  • 19% of the UK working population has a disability yet only 9% of IT specialists in the UK have a disability.***

TTC CEO Debbie Forster:

The importance of greater inclusion and diversity in tech is, thankfully, no longer up for debate. Sectors and organisations now need to work together to shift the dial – and this will happen a lot quicker if we pool our successes, failures, ideas and learn from them to bring about real structural change.

The TTC is an employer-led initiative to encourage greater inclusion and diversity in the tech workforce of the UK and is supported by the UK Digital Strategy. We join names such as the BBC, Deloitte, Dell, HP, LLoyds Banking Group, Shell, Sky and Unilever (to name just a few!), companies which have all pledged their support and commitment to drive greater inclusion and diversity in tech.

Many of the initiatives centre on recruitment and retention, which is where Insight’s expertise and platforms come into play. Specifically, our campaigns such as ‘Let’s Get Disruptive’ have enabled us to build a network of experts and a talent community that actively shares experiences and openly discusses industry challenges.

As well as signing up to the TTC we have also developed ‘Let’s Get Inclusive’, an educational drive which spotlights key D&I advocates from the Tech and Engineering spaces. This ultimately shines a light on the stories of expert contributors and promotes their stories to highlight ongoing issues and to celebrate their successes.

As we say in our very own D&I pledge:

By pooling experiences, knowledge, and ideas from a diverse collective we can come together and create truly great things.

We can’t wait to formerly kick off our Let’s Get Inclusive campaign and are excited to get involved with more of the initiatives created by fellow Tech Talent Charter signatories.
